Grass fed versus grain fed. Which is best?

Cattle have evolved to feed on grasses and legumes, grazing the world's range lands for thousands of years. It follows that grazing on open pastures is still the natural way to raise cattle.

All Tasmania Natural Beef comes from cattle that are truly free range.

They spend their entire lives in the rolling paddocks and rich pastures that make the island state’s farms so special.

By contrast, grain fed beef typically comes from cattle that are contained in feedlots.

But there is far more to the comparison than simply open range grazing versus lot feeding.

Beef contains the compound, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has been shown by numerous studies to have health benefits. It can help fight cancer and clogged arteries, reduce body fat and prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.

The Benefits of Grass Fed Beef

And the big news is that CLA levels in grass fed cattle are 30 - 40% higher than in grain fed animals! So, if you want maximum health benefits you really should choose grass fed.

Free range, grass fed beef is also a great source of the essential fatty acid, omega 3, which can be helpful to people with heart disease. It may also have an anti-carcinogenic effect.

Tasmania Natural Beef is light in colour, very tender and has white coloured fat. Light marbling gives it an intense, natural flavour and makes it very juicy. The marbling also makes cooking very easy - you'll get perfect results every time. Now everybody can be a celebrity chef with Tasmanian Natural Beef!
